Have you wondered about herbs and other alternative therapies – but had no idea how or where to begin? Maybe you’ve purchased a few books, or checked out a couple of web sites, even purchased some natural remedies – but then felt too overwhelmed to do much with it all?
If this sounds familiar, you’ve come to the right place.
I’m Sarah – and I’m here to help.
I’m an herbalist, writer, entrepreneur and generally friendly person. I’m passionate about natural health and wellness and I’ve spent years exploring the many ways to achieve it. But, like you, I’m busy. And I can be a bit lazy sometimes too.
But guess what? I’ve discovered that it can be easy and even fun to make healthy choices. You just need the right information.
I love helping people, and I want to share my knowledge and discoveries with you.
But not like a teacher or anything, like in a fun way. Because if you have a good time learning about this stuff and experimenting with it, then I’m having a good time too.
On this blog you’ll find useful tips on herbal healing and aromatherapy – like how to use certain herbs, easy and natural treatments for specific ailments, and how you can whip up your own crafty concoctions with herbs, oils and simple natural ingredients. I’ll toss in a few book reviews and interviews with hot shot herbalists too, so you won’t be limited to just my pool of knowledge.
But there are so many different paths to inner and outer wellness – so I’m not limiting this site to just the herbal thing.
I immersed myself in the world of herbs for more than 20 years, while owning and operating Moonrise Herbs, a successful and quirky herb shop here on the rugged North Coast of California (yes, it’s the middle of nowhere, but it’s the coolest middle of nowhere I’ve ever found!)
But my shop was about much more than herbs.
Through that bricks & mortar store I discovered (and shared) a plethora of tools and resources for healing body, mind and spirit. I loved finding new books on personal growth and transformation, reading the latest research on a natural healing technique and sharing with friends and customers. Often I learned the most from the customers themselves.
Local healers and spiritual teachers taught classes on everything from astrology to hypnotherapy, from herbalism to midwifery, from aromatherapy to Reiki healing – and lots more. I loved providing a center for folks to come together to learn and share knowledge.
After more than 19 years, I sold my store in part to follow my lifelong dream of writing. And now, with this blog, I’ve found a way to integrate my two passions.
Although I focus on basic herbal information here, I’ll occasionally write about finding wellness through: fitness, nutrition, personal productivity, healthy relationships, right livelihood, creative expression and – well – whatever else inspires me at the moment.
If these topics intrigue you, and you’re seeking some wellness inspiration, I’d love to have you along for the ride.
If you are already an intermediate or advanced student of herbalism, you’ll probably find the information presented here a bit fundamental. But if you’re somewhat new to alternative healing modalities – and curious to know more – you’re sure to find some useful nuggets of knowledge.
If you’ve read this far, maybe you’re thinking you’d like to stick around. I know how hard it is to remember to check back on a website! Don’t miss a post. Subscribe and you’ll get wellness tips and inspiration in your in-box about twice a week. And don’t worry – I despise spam and I will never EVER share your email address. If you’re tech-savvy and do that type of thing, you can add Wellness The Natural Way to your RSS Feed.
You won’t regret it.
Love,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I am doing a “round up” blog post where I ask people a question and post their answers with their names and link to their websites. I will be posting this article hopefully later this week. If you are interested in participating, please answer the question below, and I will let you know when I post it. (Do you use your last name, or would it be Sarah from Wellness The Natural Way?)
Question:
What would be your #1 tip for improving communication?
Thanks Sarah, hope you are doing well.
